{July 18, 2013}   Having a great time with Silverwing

It’s already been a busy summer for Silverwing (  The guys (Mel, Sean and Frank) and I have been from one end of Nevada to the other. From up in the mountains of Virginia City to crossing the beautiful Reese River Valley, the summer has been full of Wide Open Spaces!

This weekend we will be playing at the DeGolyer Rodeo Party at the Fallon Eagles Hall.  Not only will this give us a chance to play for their out of town customers, but it’s also a chance to play for some of our neighbors from Fallon who haven’t been out to hear us when we play in town.  I’m thinking some classic country is going to go over real well at this party!

Another wonderful gig we did recently was a wedding in Eureka.  It was outdoors at the great fairgrounds with the awesome stage and pavilion.  It’s a challenge to keep a diverse group entertained, but as usual Mel pulled some songs out of his hat and we kept them dancing till close to midnight.   For a country band, we can rock it up or toss in a few 50’s songs just to keep everyone guess “what are they gonna do next?”

I love my “job” as the rhythm guitar player for Silverwing.  It has changed my life dramatically.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to stand on a stage in front of thousands of people and sing and play the guitar, but I have and it is amazing.  Yep, sometimes I just pinch myself and it’s really me up there.  Wow.

In a round about way our band and our CD “Moonshine” has led to Mel becoming a radio DJ on KHWG 750am in Fallon, NV.  Just another chapter in this wild ride.  So lead guitar player, songwriter, Karaoke host and now radio DJ.  Yes, Mel of Silverwing, leads a charmed life.

Silverwing’s CD of original music “Moonshine” is available at our website, or at our gigs.  Check our schedule to see when we are playing in your area.
